From our base near Atherstone, Warwickshire, we operate an extensive fleet of specialist narrow beam vessels and associated plant, some of which have been custom built to suit a variety of applications and requirements, and as such we are now one of the UK’s leading suppliers of Workboats and Marine equipment.

Established in 1981, we are proud to have been working on Britain’s Waterways for over 40 years, and the wealth of knowledge and experience we have gained in this time is invaluable. Today our fleet of Workboats range in size and capabilities from our small but powerful Pusher Tugs and large Materials Hoppers, which allow for the ease of transporting large quantities of materials to and from site, to our versatile Welfare and Inspection Vessels. As well as our innovative hydraulic legged Pontoons, which provide a stable working platform for scaffolding and Excavators to operate from and undertake a multitude of works, such as Dredging, Piling, Nico-spanning, Towpath installation and repair and materials placement, even in the most difficult to access sites.

Alongside our Workboat fleet we also have a variety of associated equipment for hire to help make any waterside job run smoothly, such as Excavators and their attachments, Piling Hammers, Post Drivers and Borers, Powerpacks and larger items of plant such as Rollers and Dumpers of various capacities. At A & R Rothen Ltd we pride ourselves on providing only the highest quality equipment, with our Workboats and Plant being regularly serviced and safety tested to ensure they can undertake all works as safely and as effectively as possible. Should you encounter any issues however we do have our City and Guilds Trained in-house mechanics and fabricators on hand to help. Whilst as a small family business we are well known for our professional and efficient levels of service, with an added personal touch too.

Available to hire with or without our trained and competent operators, the majority of our vessels and equipment have also been designed for delivery across the UK via Hiab lorry or the waterways themselves, so we can respond quickly to our client’s needs whilst still offering cost-effective delivery routes.

Our decades of expertise within the field of marine hire and maintenance also means that we are well equipped to undertake specialist contracting works directly for our client, manning our own vessels, with recent works including Invasive and Non-Invasive Weed and Vegetation Cutting and Clearance, Dredging, Emergency Wall Support works and Piling, Marina repairs and maintenance, as well as the transportation of materials to site or vessels for inspection works.
